Wild and free. Just like a great family session should be. These kids are so full of life, they made me feel young again.

This family session was like a night out with friends.

We laughed and played, and enjoyed watching the kids explore. We got those safe, smile-at-the-camera shots out of the way, and then we let them be free. They harvested all the blackberries I think. That was a lot of fun watching them hunt! Then they found a snakeskin, which scared me, but they LOVED. And that sweet little angel girl liked chasing me with it!!

And to think I was a little extra nervous going into this session because Megan is such an accomplished photographer! (Check out her work over at The Halcyon Days Photography.) I had nothing to fear with this bunch.

My pasture has the most beautiful golden light at certain times of the year, and I always try to hold sessions here whenever I can. Especially if my client requests golden backlight, like Megan did.

As you will see, we had wonderful weather. Just enough clouds to filter the sun, and give us a gorgeous sky. We had already had a lot of rain, so everything was clean and green. Not to say that we weren’t dodging cow patties, here and there!

We had an absolute blast during their session! Everything seemed to work out perfectly.

A sunset engagement session in a sunflower field in Micanopy Florida by Angela Norton.

Kirkland and Austin’s Engagement Session at Coon Hollo in Micanopy was one I’ll never forget.

Their story started before I met them, but I had the absolute privilege of being there to document Austin’s SURPRISE proposal! With the help of his friends, we planned a “portrait session” for them both. Austin sold it to Kirkland as a dating anniversary present.

We thought this was a better idea than me hiding in the bushes trying to spy on them!

And obviously she said YES!

Kirkland and Austin are such kind people. They are full of smiles and have a go-with-the-flow attitude. In other words, they are a dream to work with, and their engagement session was really fun!

I’m always a little nervous when heading to a sunflower field that I haven’t seen. Are they going to be all picked? Did we have a drought/flood that killed them? Are they going to be droopy? Worst fears right?!

As you can see we experienced a gorgeous field! Actually there were so many stunning views, I was getting a little too excited! We also had a vibrant sky, great weather, and along with Kirkland’s style and grace, it all pulled together perfectly. I mean how great are those colors together. I also love it that Austin is himself here. He’s not all dolled up in something that isn’t him, and makes him uncomfortable. (take note ladies, he was a super happy guy!)

We decided to start the session on the deck, because it gave us a totally different look than the field. Then, we moved to the sunflowers, and chased some beautiful light!

I’d like ya’ll to meet my sweet, sweet neighbors! We have been blessed. both personally and professionally with their generosity. My family is grateful to them in many ways, from storing hay, to using them as a petting zoo for Emily’s friends, to using there property for a variety of photo sessions from babies to seniors.

On this day, I was very blessed to be able to give them something.

Oh, and check out the blue eyed baby that I couldn’t take my eyes off of!

How to do a mommy and me session when they are all grown up.

Ya’ll know I love these ladies! And it’s also no secret that Carlie is my right hand here at ANP!

{{{ #brainsandbeauty !!!}}}

On this evening we went to Downtown Ocala. They just wanted to do something different, have a change of scenery, and I love different. So I was excited, and downtown didn’t disappoint.

We didn’t really have a plan, and I’ve never worked in downtown Ocala, so we just walked around, tried and missed… and tried and WON. Thankfully my husband went with us so he could be our traffic spotter. He kept us from being run over… and he kept us giggling.

After we got what we wanted and ran out of light, we topped off an already great night with a yummy dinner at Harry’s.

XOXO

I’ll do downtown St. Augustine anytime. ANY. TIME.

First, don’t you just love the feel when you’re in someplace with such a rich history. Every old wall, or brick in the road, makes me dream of the people who made it. What they wore, what tools they used, where they lived….

Second, combine all-the-feels with a super family. Andrea and I had only emailed and talked on the phone, so it’s always exciting when all the plans work out so nicely. And by plans, I mean we really didn’t have one. We winged it, and it was magic.

Andrea really wanted to show St. Augustine in her family pictures, because she didn’t know if their future was to stay, or go. And she just wanted something that reflected where they were on their journey. Her family is also a perfect example of letting the kids wear what they want (sorta)… right down to a tutu and some crazy socks.

We parked in a little spot recommended to us, and just started walking. And really, it’s harder to find a BAD scene than a good one.

The colors, light, and texture are a photographers dream. As you’ll see….

If Andrea gets 20 comments on this post, she will receive a complementary 11″x14″ of her favorite image!

It doesn’t get much prettier than Shalom Park in the Fall. Rebecca and Austin’s engagement session will always be one of my favorites. I mean really… A man in uniform with his lady in a red dress. What can be better?

We met at Shalom Park in Ocala Florida on the most beautiful evening. Rebecca and Austin were a dream couple!

Easy going, full of smiles, and totally in love.

We moved through the park utilizing the spots that had the best light that time of year.

And oh, the silhouette pictures! Insert heart eyes. I love how we can recognize his uniform as military.

We closed the park down that night, and made every gorgeous minute count.

This family took my tagline of embracing the chaos to a whole new level!

This was one of those sessions where the stars didn’t align at first. But then, they DID. We had to reschedule a couple of times, but I think it all happened for a reason. Because we ended up with magic.

I made a point to arrive at the location a few minutes early. And boy, I was just blown away by the serenity. After driving past the old windmill, I came to a very old barn. It was made of stone and wood into the side of a little hill. I love to imagine what the times were like when it was built!

After driving around a bit, I found my spots where the light was just perfect, and prayed for a good sunset! Then I waited for my family… and boy did they come in with a bang!

This momma is gorgeous, I already knew that, but these girls! What style! And they wore it so well! The boys were pretty cute too. Then the horses were the icing on the cake!

Amy is one of those real friends who I can hang out with like no time has ever passed. She is someone I will say anything to (good, bad, or ugly), and I trust her with my heart. I couldn’t be more happier for her, and the life she has built.

This session took place at the gorgeous Stonehedge Farm South in Williston, and due to it’s natural beauty, is a dream location. And I didn’t take the opportunity for granted!

Amy, thanks for being such a great human being. You are real, and I love that about you.

I adore going to new locations. I love the challenge of thinking on my feet, and creating images using features of the location, as well as utilizing the light on the fly.

We all got up early…. I was up before 5, which is not my usual time of waking to say the least. And since we were going to a secluded unknown (to me) place, I made my husband and daughter go too! Yes, they still love me.

But oh was this place and family so worth it! Those boys were cute, and shy, and sweet, and polite! And look at their styling! Not only did this family look great, they were an absolute joy to work with. I think I smiled the whole way home.

Audrey, I know your family life is not easy with the miles between, but you seem to be doing a superb job of supporting your husband and building a relationship with those handsome boys. Nice work momma. You made it look easy.
